Darkness and Perkins like this

In the past, I have found these contests fall flat 'round these parts. But there appears to be a glimmer of life in the old dog's eye, so here goes nothing...
Step right up, step right up. Hurry, hurry friends. See the contest that defies nature's laws. The competition so freakish that it should never have been born...
As you may know, every couple of months I organise a collaborative creative contest - aiming to have a bit of fun and get our creative juices flowing.

The format:
I suggest a theme. Entrants send me a routine, an effect, a work of art, a script, a poem or a story inspired by that theme.
Text-based entries should be sent in Word Doc or RTF format. If you're sending images, especially if they're "printable props", consider sending them as image files rather than embedding them in the document. This will help to preserve their resolution.
I compile all the entries in a beautiful PDF. Every entrant receives a copy of the PDF as a reward for taking part. The only way to receive this PDF is to submit an idea. One entrant will receive something extra - a physical prize. This person is deemed to have "won" and can perform their preferred victory dance.
The theme:
As decided by the pseudo-democratic process of "Doodle", this contest will be themed around "Sideshow".
How you choose to explore this topic is left entirely to you. The circus sideshow is a hotbed of wonderful bizarre material.
Fortune tellers, geeks, freaks. Perhaps you want to write up a blockhead demonstration - glass-eating, nail-up-the-nose type of stuff. Or a story about a trio of wolf-faced boys. Or perhaps you have a routine based around a fortune telling theme. Or maybe a tutorial on creating a "half woman, half spider!" hybrid for us all to display in our magick vaults. Or perhaps a Stanton Carlisle style stage psychic demonstration. The colourful, crazy, dark and dangerous world of the carnie is your oyster. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
The rules:
Send entries to totalcult[AT]gmail[DOT]com
Subject Line: "Sideshow"
Closing date for sending entries: 12 noon, Greenwich Mean Time, Monday, March 23rd. ( www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/uk/greenwich-city )
Judging:
Like the scaly tails of Serpenta the Snake Woman, my criteria for picking "the winner" are twisted and move in mysterious ways. However, previous contests have taught me that there is no prize I can bestow that will match the brilliance of the PDF - that's where the gold lies, in the ideas you guys share. So there are no losers, because everyone gets the top prize, the PDF.
Any questions? Please post below!
And finally.... I know some of you already have effects in mind for the "Money" and "Books" themes. Fear not. These contests will come to pass in time. Be patient, note the ideas down somewhere safe and hang fire until the time is right.
