Today's Random Thought: The Incredible £1.50 Billet Hold-out
Disclaimer: This post is about a product I found in a UK store and therefore may be of limited use to our international brethren. But there are probably equivalent products out there if you search.
I was indulging my stationery fetish at W H Smith the other day when I saw a section of budget folders, pads and other supplies, all priced at a couple of quid and with a '3 for 2' offer running.
There were a few items of interest. I saw a small (A7-ish) pad with covers perfect for Tommy Pad users. I also noticed a key-ring pad with tiny Annemann billet sized pages. But what I ended up buying was a small cardboard business card case.
I've filled it with my billets of choice - A6 sketch pad pages cut into quarters (I use these now for folded billet routines [as opposed to business card billet routines] I find the handling nicer than cut-down index cards. I also struggled to find double blank index cards that weren't really thick. Anyway, top tip, sketch pad paper is a nice weight for billets - around 135gsm).
What's really nice is that the cardboard wallet is held closed by an elastic strap that makes an excellent hold-out for a dummy billet - meaning that stealing the dummy becomes a natural part of taking the holder from my pocket.
So yeah. Hopefully it's of some interest to some of you. It's also available in black, but in the words of William Burroughs 'I like the brown'.
Thanks for this Matt, Z
